September 19, 2008

More on the emotional connection between fans and TV shows:

From Washington Post:

"The CW series with the most emotionally clinging 18-to-49-year-olds is . . . "Supernatural," the show that incinerated Mom in the very first episode, remember? Though it was hardly a barnburner in the ratings last season, it has the eighth highest ranking of any returning series on any broadcast network on the Emotionally-Sucking-In-Advertiser-Coveted-Viewers-O-Meter.

And from New York Post:

"Among the other high-scoring EAI shows are "Heroes," "House," "Grey's Anatomy" and the little-watched-but-apparently-well-loved CW series "Supernatural."

"We saw significant growth in emotional attachment to 'Supernatural' way before its ratings began to improve," says Henry Schafer, Q Scores' executive vice president, illustrating how the ratings can predict a rise – or fall – in the fortunes of a particular show."
