The CW Upfront – May 21, 2009

February 8, 2009

According to Media Week, the CW will have its presentation at Madison Square Garden Theatre on May 21, 2009.

What are the upfronts?

"In the North American television industry, an upfront is a meeting of television network executives with the press and, more important, with major advertisers. It is so called because it signals the start of an important advertising sales period, allowing marketers to buy commercial airtime "up front", or several months before the season begins.

In the United States, the major broadcast networks' upfronts occur in New York City during the third week of May, the last full week of that month's sweeps period. The networks announce their fall primetime schedules, including tentative launch dates (i.e. fall or midseason) for new programming, which may be "picked up" the week before. The programming announcements themselves are usually augmented with clips from the new series, extravagant musical numbers, comedic scenes, and appearances by network stars, and take place at grand venues such as Radio City Music Hall or Carnegie Hall. Most cable networks present earlier in the spring since they usually program for the summer months; press attention to these announcements is usually much lighter." (source: Wikipedia).

Supernatural was picked by the CW (following the WB and UPN merge) on May 18, 2006, the day of the upfront.… Read More

BuddyTV’s TV’s 50 Sexiest Men, Part 2

February 6, 2009

Due to BuddyTV users demanded, the site posted a follow-up to it's first round of the 50 Sexiest Men on TV:

#37 Misha Collins, Supernatural

It’s only appropriate that Misha Collins plays an angel on TV, because the things we’d like to do with him are downright Biblical. His strict demeanor and ever-prominent trench coat try to hide his sexiness, but we still remember him as the hot terrorist who seduced a member of Senator Palmer’s staff back in the first season of 24, so we know exactly how sexy he really is.

#25 Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Grey’s Anatomy

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is so hot that he transcends death. For real, if you are looking for someone to play the world's hottest dead guy on your TV show, JDM seems to be the choice du jour. He plays Izzie's ghost lover on Grey's Anatomy, the beloved departed husband on Weeds, and devoted dead father of the Winchester brothers on Supernatural. While some people think it's strange Izzie Stevens is having ghost sex with Denny, we think you can hardly blame the girl–a man this hot shouldn't be kept from some loving by a little thing like mortality.… Read More
