Shallow Graves Magazine has posted further information for its Supernatural/Thriller Convention, The Mystic Carnival, to be held August 28-30, 2009 at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The convention will benefit The Canadian Cancer Society, as a percentage of the the profits will go to the CCS.
Scheduled to attend the event are Chad Lindberg (Ash), Fredric Lehne (Yellow Eyed-Demon), Samantha Smith (Mary Winchester), Charles Malik Whitfield (Agent Victor Henricksen), Richard Speight Jr. (The Trickster), Traci Dinwiddie (Pamela Barnes), Psychic Dakota Lawrence, Michael Biehn (Terminator, Grindhouse), Jennifer Blanc-Biehn (Dark Angel), Dana Daurey (Silent Lies, Bewitched, Prank), Tony Todd (Candyman, "Masters of Horror", "24") and James Kyson Lee ("Heroes").
The event will be open to the public with event packages for the weekend to include Question and Answer panels, autograph signings, photo opportunities, a cocktail party, a dinner banquet, watching fireworks over the Coal Harbor, plus a carnival where a number of the stars get involved with the fun.

It doesn't seem to matter that these stories have been part of the show's DNA since the pilot. I'm not sure this particular episode adheres to any specific urban legend, but most of the first season was about the Brothers Winchester hunting down the truth behind the grisly and horrifying myth. It's funny how the mainstream critics, the ones who ignored the show in its early glories, are now seemingly invested in each and every writing choice, now that it's regaining its ratings momentum.
What those critics have missed, time and again, is the purpose of these supposedly stand-alone episodes. The story is never really about the monster or the legend; it's about the Brothers Winchester and their psychological issues. In particular, this one is all about Dean. Now that we know the truth about his time in Hell, his actions and decisions since the season premiere make a lot more sense.
