Samantha Smith has been in the industry for quite some time and her resume attests to this with guest roles in Charles in Charge, Seinfeld, Wings, The Pretender, Pacific Blue, Caroline in the City, Buddy Faro and Friends. Her presence in the realm of television grew from minor guest roles to the more substantial position of a recurring role.
Smith jumped ship as Nancy Carlson in the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen show, Two of a Kind, where she played Kevin Burke’s (Christopher Sieber) love interest. Subsequently, she joined the cast of Profiler as Kate Wilton. Her career ambled along with roles in prominent shows such as Nash Bridges, Dark Angel, Just Shoot Me and NYPD Blue.
In 2005, images of a woman pinned to the ceiling with a gash through her stomach bursting into flames were circulated as part of the promos for The CW’s (then The WB) hit series Supernatural. When the pilot aired, it was none other than Samantha Smith who portrayed the nightgown-clad wife of John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The horrific death of her character, Mary Winchester, forms an integral part in the ongoing saga that befalls her sons Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) in their journey of discovery.
Smith has also appeared in various films such as Jerry Maguire, The Truth about Juliet, Rocking Good Times, Avalon: Beyond the Abyss and Love’s Unending Legacy. The motion picture adaptation of the American cartoon series, The Transformers, where she acts as Sarah Lennox is undoubtedly one of her most exciting projects. Following that she appeared in the made-for-television-movie, Love’s Unfolding Dream, as Marty Davis.
She is currently set to appear in the comedy drama, The Chosen One, alongside Rob Schneider and Holland Taylor.
