ITV has acquired the UK rights to Warner Brother's 'Supernatural', an otherworldly drama series due to premiere in the US this autumn.

The series features two brothers played by 'House of Wax' star Jared Padalecki and 'Smallville' actor Jensen Ackles, pursuing the supernatural forces responsible for their mother's murder.

The series is due to air on either ITV2 or ITV4, as well as a late-night slot on ITV1, from early 2006.

'Supernatural' will feature a variety of evils that take the form of mythic American figures and other big bads based on urban legends.

'Supernatural' will debut on Warner's own US network The WB this autumn in the slot formerly held by 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.

Nigel Pickard, ITV's director of programmes, said: "This was the standout show from the US this season and we are delighted to have secured it for ITV."
