The Top-5 TV Shows of the Year

January 6, 2010

IFMagazine listed their Top 5 TV Shows of the Year:

1) SUPERNATURAL

Why it Rocked: Beginning with the second half of season four, the show continued to prove why it has so many loyal followers as it gave Team Dean (Jensen Ackles) a chance to shine as he became the only hope in defeating the rise of Lucifer on Earth. Here’s the kicker, he along with his brother Sam (Jared Padaleki) failed. Now, beginning in season five, Lucifer roams the Earth and is bringing the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse along with him and the carnage and deaths among some of the long-time cast members is bountiful.

Memorable Moment: Sam and Dean get trapped by the Trickster in a realm where they must act out TV clichés from hospital dramas, to buddy sitcoms, to Japanese game shows.

The 50 Best Episodes of 2009

January 6, 2010

The Futon Critic are counting down the the 50 best episodes of 2009:

33. "supernatural: the real ghostbusters" (the cw)
(originally aired: november 12, 2009)

Just when you think "Supernatural" has run out of ways to poke fun of itself, here comes an episode in which Sam and Dean literally attend a "Supernatural" fan convention. Between its panel names ("Frightened Little Boy to Secret Life of Dean," "Homoerotic Subtext of Supernatural") to its LARPing attendees ("Buddy, I have heard that line 17 times tonight, okay?" notes one of the hired actors. "And all from dudes wearing MacGyver jackets. But you seem different."), "The Real Ghostbusters" took it to another level. And yet once again, the silly gave way to the serious as a pair of particularly invested LARPers remind Sam and Dean how, despite their painfully difficult struggles, it really must be cool to be them.
