Jared Padalecki is in final negotiations to star in the remake of Friday the 13th, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie, produced by Platinum Dunes for New Line and Paramount, is directed by Marcus Nispel from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Producers are Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
The remake will focus on the serial killer, who was introduced on the Paramount Friday the 13th original in 1980. Padalecki will play the lead, who investigates what happened up at Crystal Lake.
Friday the 13th is set for release on Friday, February 13, 2009.
