Samantha Ferris’ ‘Impact’ going to ABC

According to ComingSoon.net, ABC has picked up Samantha Ferris' (Ellen Harvelle) Impact, a four-hour sci-fi mini-series. SCI FI Channel took second-window rights, while Sony Pictures Home Entertainment acquired video rights.

Synopsis: During a meteor shower, a huge meteor smashes into the moon, changing its properties and orbit. Scientists announce that the moon will crash into Earth and all life will perish. An international mission of astronauts is sent into space to reverse the moon's magnetic effects and restore its original orbit. The world prays as the survival of mankind hangs in the balance. about humanity's efforts to survive after the moon is hit by a meteor and enters into a collision course with Earth.

Impact stars Natasha Henstridge, James Cromwell, David James Elliott, Benjamin Sadler and Florentine Lahme. Mike Rohl (Supernatural director) directed from a script by Michael Vickerman.

‘Watchmen’ and ‘Taken’ weekend numbers

According to the information on ComingSoon.net and EW.com, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Watchmen earned an estimated $55.7 million from 3,611 theaters, for an average of $15,413 per location. IMAX theaters accounted for $5.5 million of the film's $55.7 million opening. It marks the third-highest March opening of all time, trailing its own director Zack Snyder's 300 and Ice Age: The Meltdown.

Internationally, the movie made $27.5 million from 5,097 theaters in 45 markets. Worldwide, Watchmen has earned $83.2 million after three days.

Katie Cassidy's (Ruby) Taken climbed from fourth to third with $7.5 million, bringing its six-week sum to $118 million.

ComingSoon.net reports a $4.6 million income in Thursday midnight shows. According to the information on EW.com, the movie made $25.1 million on Friday (the $4.6 million take from screenings that started on Friday at midnight included).
