The Supernatural Crossroads Weechester Fan Fiction Contest

July 6, 2010

The Winchester Family Business, Support Supernatural and Winchester Bros are proud to announce The Supernatural Crossroads first ever fan contest.

"Weechester" fan fiction, aka stories about the Winchester brothers when they were younger, is very popular in this fandom.  Thanks to a suggestion on The Winchester Family Business Facebook page, we got an idea.  Remember the scene in "Dark Side of The Moon" when Sam's happy memory was when he ran away and lived on his own in Flagstaff?  How Dean was worried sick because Sam ran away on his watch and he thought he was dead?  How upset John was with Dean?  Write that story.  It can be multi-chapter or a one shot, there is no word limit.

There is however a time limit!  All stories must be submitted by August 6th at 9:00 pm Eastern time.  That may or may not be the time "Dark Side of The Moon" airs in repeats, but it's close enough.  Submit stories in the section below.  You can post chapter by chapter or stories in their entirety.  You can post a link to your story on livejournal, ff.net or whereever you want to post your story.  We aren't picky!  All stories will be judged by a panel of judges representing The Winchester Family Business, Support Supernatural and Winchester Bros.… Read More

Review of Colin Ford’s movie Jack and the Beanstalk

July 6, 2010

"The Princess Bride succeeded, to a great degree, because it was so old-fashioned.  The special effects eschewed contemporary approaches and recalled fifty-year-old classics such as The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland (Rodents of Unusual Size, anyone?), and the storyline was an amalgam of classic fairytale motifs that were instantly recognizable.  This is the legacy of which the new version of Jack and the Beanstalk—a follow-up of sorts to director Gary J. Tunnicliffe’s own straight-to-DVD Hansel and Gretel (2002)—longs to be a part, the first in a proposed series of such titles from Avalon Family Entertainment."
