Comic-Con Q&A: ‘Supernatural’ Cast Interviews & Panel Highlights (VIDEO)

July 25, 2011

“The boys of the CW’s ‘Supernatural’ are back in town (San Diego, to be precise), and this time they took over the monstrous Hall H, Comic-Con’s big kahuna.

But before the stars took to the stage, we caught up with them in the press room — it was a double-team effort, actually, with Mo Ryan on the press line and Laura Prudom doing roundtable interviews. Together we were able to glean a few hints about what’s coming up in Season 7, so watch and read carefully.”

Jensen Ackles mentioned by Kris Polaha in Ringer interview

July 22, 2011

The cast and producers of the upcoming CW mystery series Ringer were at Comic-Con Thursday to discuss the series and answer audience questions.

“Sarah Michelle Gellar was on the WB—or the CW, basically—for Buffy, and it’s in a way a homecoming for her. And the CW frankly has laid out the red carpet for the show … My buddy Jensen Ackles is on Supernatural, and while the numbers aren’t amazing every week, ratings-wise—the numbers wouldn’t allow that show to survive on any other network. But the network has gotten behind it. … It’s almost become this boutique network that services this type of show extremely well, so I think it’s a great fit.” –Kris Polaha

There’s a moment of disorientation seeing these familiar voices — and the series’ iconic Kansas theme song — associated with a wanna-be-Hellsing style. It’s full of the demonic tentacular imagery that characterizes a lot of horror anime, and focuses on the half-terrifying, half-sentimental relationship between family members.”

Rob Benedict lends his humor (and music) to indie drama ‘A Little Help’

July 21, 2011

“If you’re familiar with Rob Benedict’s fantastic television work of the past (Felicity, Head Case, Supernatural– to name a few!), you already know how he can lighten up a dramatic or otherwise tense situation with just one line delivery or nervous smile. He is certainly no stranger to playing “comic relief” characters, but don’t consider him just pigeonholed. Benedict says these types of guys are close to who he is, though perhaps one was never more so than his role of Paul in the independent darling A Little Help.”
