Supernatural is moving to Tuesday nights for season 9

CW announced their Fall season and Supernatural is moving back to its original time-slot.  When Supernatural first aired, it was on Tuesdays at 9pm.  Supernatural’s season 9 will air on Tuesdays at 9pm, following The Vampire Diaries’ spinoff, The Originals.

“We had a terrific season last year, growing our audience on-air, digitally and socially.  Now we are building on that success by continuing to add more original programming all year long, and by adding high-concept, exciting shows to our schedule that will help us continue our mission of broadening out our 18-to-34-year old audience,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.  “‘Arrow’ was one of the breakout hits of this season, and we’re using that show and ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ our two highest-rated series, to launch our new dramas ‘The Tomorrow People’ and ‘Reign,’ on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

“Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah, the original family of vampires, have become fan favorites over the past three seasons on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ and we know viewers will be excited to see more of their story in their new spin-off series, ‘The Originals,’ on Tuesday nights.  And with ‘Star-Crossed’ and ‘The 100’ set for midseason, The CW is poised to keep growing and keep our momentum going.”

The CW will launch its fall season in October 2013.  Premiere dates to be announced at a later time.

The CW kicks off its new Tuesday lineup from 8:00-9:00p.m. with the highly anticipated spin-off of THE VAMPIRE DIARIESTHE ORIGINALS – starring Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Claire Holt as the original vampire family.  From 9:00-10:00p.m., SUPERNATURAL, the fan-favorite drama that saw ratings growth this season, moves to a new night as the Winchester brothers embark on the ninth season of their otherworldly battle against evil.

“SUPERNATURAL”

The thrilling and terrifying journey of the Winchester brothers continues as SUPERNATURAL enters its ninth season.  Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have spent their lives on the road, battling every kind of supernatural threat.  Over the years, after dozens of bloody adventures, they have faced everything from the yellow-eyed demon that killed their mother to vampires, ghosts, shapeshifters, angels and fallen gods.  They even came face to face with Lucifer and the Four Horsemen in averting the Apocalypse.  With the help of allies — both human and supernatural — they’ve discovered that every threat they vanquish opens a new door for evil to enter in.  In the show’s eighth season, their supernatural hunting expedition led them directly into an age-old power struggle involving the King of Hell, legions of warrior angels and a series of divine trials to prove themselves worthy of sealing the Gates of Hell forever.  With the help of their protector, the fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins), Sam and Dean’s lifelong quest to rid the world of evil will take everything they’ve got.  As dawn arrives after their endless struggle and sacrifice to defeat the world’s monsters, they know that, come nightfall, something otherworldly — something supernatural — will claw its way out of the shadows, demanding their attention. SUPERNATURAL is from Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (“Charlie’s Angels,” “The O.C.”), Robert Singer (“Midnight Caller”), Jeremy Carver (“Being Human”), Phil Sgriccia and Adam Glass.
