Moments before Jeffrey Dean Morgan, TV's favorite dead guy, exited the Supernatural world, his character whispered a life-altering secret into the ear of his elder hottie son, Dean. The subject of this deathbed confession? His younger hottie son, Sam.

And then the show went on hiatus. Damn!

Finally, the wait is almost over. The show returns tonight, and we'll learn the truth about John's dying words. But personally, I can't wait anymore (and based on the number of fan emails, I know many of you can't either), so I hit up show creator Eric Kripke for some scoop!

You left the audience hanging with quite a cliffhanger before the holidays! Sam was insisting that Dean finally divulge the big secret their father had been keeping from him. Will he spill the beans?
Yes, and we don't mess around. We jump right back into it. Well, first, in the [opening] teaser, we do have to kill some random stranger, because, well, you have to. [Laughs.] But right after the break, we'll get into it and reveal what the secret is, and it's a nice reveal. I mean nice as in satisfying and interesting, not sweet and nice! But yes, it's really good and something we've been planning for a long time now. It will raise a lot of interesting questions and send the boys off into another direction.

Am I mistaken, or is the CW already showing promos that give the secret away? Last night, during a commercial break, I saw Dean telling Sam he is a monster.
Yes, that is out there, but that's not the full secret, although it is part of it. [The secret] will affect Sam [dramatically], and it raises a lot of questions about what Sam's destiny is, why he is different, can he fight it, can Dean help him fight it and what do they do if he can't. It's interesting. How is he different than the creatures he hunts? Should he be hunted? There are several episodes where the boys deal with the conflict that the secret brings.

And why is it that Dean is not a monster, yet Sam is? Will we learn the answer to that?
You will by the end of the season, yes. We've got a major reveal coming up. I mean, I think the one we've got on Thursday is huge, but the end of the season will be one of the biggest reveals of the series.

Of course I have to ask, is Jeffrey Dean Morgan going to return, possibly in flashbacks or as a vision?
It is possible. I always say no one's ever really dead on Supernatural. We'd love to have him back. A lot really depends on his increasingly busy schedule, but I think we could do it in an interesting way that would make sense, and so hopefully he will be available. He's got a lot going on.

And how 'bout some lovin' for our boys? Is there something brewing between Jo and Dean?
No. [Laughs.] That's the short answer. Um, I love the character of Jo, and I love Alona [Tal]. I think she's done such a great job. But I think she's sort of been established as more of a sister character to the boys, and it works well. It's a good dynamic, so yeah, no sex for Jo and Dean! Sam, however, does get laid this season! [Laughs.] Yes, he does find a girl and it's a big deal for him, since he's been mostly celibate since Jessica. We are currently negotiating with Jared's people for full-frontal nudity, and I think it's going to work out nicely—so definitely tune in for that!

Uhhh…Suddenly my mind's blank. I can't think of any more questions. So let me just tell you to not forget to tune into Supernatural tonight on the CW!
