How did Supernatural pull off a surprise rock show in the middle of San Diego Comic-Con?

Ending the annual pop culture convention with a bang on Sunday, iconic rock band Kansas surprised more than 7,200 Supernatural diehards assembled in Hall H with a live performance of the show’s unofficial theme song, “Carry on Wayward Son.” With an impressive light show and screens spanning the entire length of the biggest room at Comic-Con showing highlights from the past 12 seasons of The CW’s longest-running series, the event was less like a panel and more like an arena rock concert.

After a SUPERNATURAL panel that included a live performance by Kansas, actors Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins joined producers Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb for the show’s press room, which gave us an opportunity to learn more about Lucifer’s son, how Mary will survive in the alternate world, the upcoming SUPERNATURAL spin-off and what’s to come for Sam and Dean Winchester in season 13.

The band Kansas surprised the thousands of fans gathered in Hall H for a surprise performance of the show’s unofficial theme song, “Carry On Wayward Son.” The song was first used back in the season one finale during a montage, and has since been used for every season finale since then. It has been fully embraced by the Supernatural fanbase as the song of the series, and was even reprised during the show’s 200th episode with a slowed down version as a love letter to the fans.… Read More
