Supernatural: Tribes will air its backdoor pilot in the 20^th episode of this season and longtime SPN fans will notice more than a few similarities to the original series’ pilot. After the death of a loved one, the show’s protagonist, Ennis, is dragged into the world of hunting and monsters. It comes as no surprise that Sam is far more sympathetic to the wannabe cop than his brother when they run into Ennis working a case in Chicago. And while Tribes lacks Supernatural’s beloved sibling angst, Ennis has his fair share of Winchester-level daddy issues.

In the wake of last week’s emotional Supernatural episode, fandom has been left flailing, sobbing, conjecturing, analyzing – and fighting. I saw a tweet earlier today that said “I think the real challenge of the Hellatus is keeping us fans from tearing each other apart on break.” (Thanks @SPN_ExEm). I think a lot of us try to avoid wank whenever we can, but it’s a part of fandom and it always has been. It was one of the most confusing things for me when we first started researching fandom and I had to take off my rose-colored Utopian glasses and realize that while fandom is one of the most amazing, accepting, supportive, wonderful communities I’ve ever encountered, it’s not without infighting. Writing “Fangasm: Supernatural Fangirls” was a lot of fun, and much of the book is about the joys of discovering fandom, a lot of squee about Supernatural, and a lot more squee about going behind the scenes and discovering what the actors think about the Show and the fans (how could chatting with Jensen, Jared and Misha not be fun??)… Read More

February 13, 2014 (Burbank, California) – The CW Network has ordered early pickups for the 2014-15 season for its hit series ARROW, REIGN, THE ORIGINALS, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and SUPERNATURAL,which will be returning for its tenth season next fall. The series pickups were announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.

“This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series THE ORIGINALS paired with SUPERNATURAL, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. I have recently found myself in the somewhat uncomfortable position of being a fan-girl. I never really got fandom. Then I watched Supernatural… and I plunged immediately down the slippery slope of SPN fan-girl status. It started innocently enough. Watch another episode, then another. Look up Ackles and Padalecki. Fall a little more in love. And you all know how this story ends. Now nine seasons later I obsess with the best. Oh, I try to hide it from my normal friends. My Twitter pic isn’t Dean or Crowley or the “Keep Calm and Carry On My Wayward Son” graphic. But being a closet addict doesn’t change my addiction. I need these boys… should I apologize?

I mean, as far as every day, real life- Supernatural doesn’t really follow. I don’t like monsters- heck, I don’t even like scary movies. And one thing I won’t apologize for is that I love God. For real. Like, for me the biggest mystery of the show is where does Jesus factor in? We have God (although absent), and we have the devil (although caged).… Read More
